Privacy Policy

This policy explains how personal information is handled when you make an enquiry about staying at Solent View.

Last updated 25 September 2026

Clear, limited use of the details you choose to share.

Information we collect

When you use the availability and enquiry form, we collect your name, email address, optional phone number, preferred arrival and departure dates, number of guests and any optional message you provide.

How we use it

We use this information to receive, assess and respond to your enquiry, check availability and help manage any resulting booking. Your enquiry is stored in the website’s backend and emailed to Wight Escapes, the property manager, so they can respond. The notification uses your email address as its Reply-To address, allowing Wight Escapes to reply directly to you.

Our lawful basis

We generally process enquiry information because it is necessary to take steps at your request before a possible booking. We may also retain limited information where reasonably necessary for our legitimate interests in administering enquiries, keeping appropriate business records and resolving questions or disputes. Where a legal obligation applies, we may process information to meet that obligation.

Who receives your information

Enquiry details are shared with Wight Escapes, which manages Solent View and handles availability and booking correspondence. They may also be processed by the necessary website hosting, database and transactional email providers that support this enquiry service. We do not use enquiry details for newsletters or advertising, and we do not sell personal information.

How long we keep it

Enquiry information is kept only for as long as reasonably needed to respond, manage any resulting stay, maintain necessary business records and meet legal or accounting obligations. Retention may therefore vary depending on whether an enquiry leads to a booking. Information that is no longer needed is deleted or anonymised where appropriate.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law, you may have rights to ask for access to your personal information, correction of inaccurate information, deletion or restriction of its use, or to object to certain processing. You may also have the right to receive information you supplied in a portable format. These rights can depend on the circumstances and may not apply in every case.

You can also complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office if you believe your information has not been handled properly.

Contact about privacy

To ask a privacy question or exercise a data protection right, use the enquiry form and begin your message with “Privacy request”. This routes your request to Wight Escapes for a response. Please provide only the information needed to identify your enquiry.

Website data

The current public website does not include advertising trackers or a visitor analytics service. Essential technical processing may still take place to deliver the website securely and operate the enquiry form. This policy will be updated if the site’s data use changes.
